We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior WordPress Developer to lead our development team, plan and execute complex projects, and help us take our web presence to the next level.

Role Overview:

As a Senior WordPress Developer at MiBanana, you will be at the forefront of our web development efforts. You’ll be responsible for planning, developing, and optimizing our WordPress-based projects, as well as leading and mentoring a team of developers. This role requires a deep understanding of WordPress architecture, technical SEO, a strategic mindset, and the ability to drive projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Execution: Lead the planning, development, and deployment of WordPress-based websites and applications, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and guide a team of WordPress developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Custom Development: Design and implement custom WordPress themes and plugins, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
  • Technical Strategy: Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements and translate them into technical specifications and actionable development plans.
  • Technical SEO Implementation: Ensure all WordPress sites are optimized for search engines by implementing best practices in technical SEO, including proper use of meta tags, schema markup, URL structure, XML sitemaps, and mobile optimization.
  • Code Review & Quality Assurance: Oversee code reviews, testing, and debugging processes to ensure the highest quality of work.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously optimize website performance, including load times, SEO, and user experience.
  • Integration & API Development: Develop and maintain integrations with third-party services and APIs to enhance website functionality.
  • Maintenance & Support: Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing WordPress sites, including troubleshooting and bug fixes.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of development processes, and regularly report on project progress to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in WordPress development, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of WordPress architecture, including custom theme and plugin development, as well as experience with modern web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL).
  • Technical SEO Skills: Deep understanding of technical SEO best practices, including site architecture, schema markup, robots.txt, canonical tags, and Google Search Console.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading and managing a development team, with strong mentoring and team-building skills.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
  • Performance Focused: Expertise in website performance optimization techniques, including caching, code minification, and image optimization.
  • API Integration: Experience with integrating WordPress sites with third-party APIs and services.
  • Version Control: Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Attention to Detail: High standards for quality and precision in all aspects of development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in WordPress, web development, or SEO.
  • Experience with Modern Tooling: Familiarity with modern build tools and environments, such as Webpack, npm, etc.
  • Familiarity with E-commerce: Experience with WooCommerce or other WordPress-based e-commerce solutions.
